I cannot believe that October is here so fast. I hope the cooler weather is right around the corner now that Fall is officially here.

Here is what our week looks like:

Monday:
  • CBM assessments start

  • 4/5 learning community 3-4:30pm
Wednesday:
  • 3rd grade wacky Wednesday
  • 1:15 Elementary meeting: Vocabulary focus
  • 2/3 learning community meets 3-4:30pm
Friday:
  • K-5 progress reports go home in Friday folders
Coming Soon/Announcements:
  • 10/5 book fair arrives-this is a fund raiser for the fourth grade trip to space camp
  • 10/7 Kagan training 3-4:30pm
  • 10/8 Elementary lead team meeting
Celebrations:
  • Margie Donnelly's kindergartners doing quiz quiz trade!
  • 5th grade giving all their students the same "drops in their buckets." Team collaboration and planning is very evident in their learning community reading block.
  • Happy Birthday to: Brynn Bostic 9/29!!!

Kagan Trainer Extraordinaire!

Hello Elementary Division!

It was a very hot but good Gator game this weekend-Go Gators!

Here is what is going on this week around campus:

All week: We will have students from Jonathan Bostic's Math Methods course coming to campus to observe during math blocks. These are the observations that we spoke about at last week's meeting. I have sent a schedule to you via email so you can see when they will be in your room.

Monday:
  • K/1 Learning Community Mtg. 3-4:30pm
  • Chik fil A family night 5-8pm
Tuesday:
  • 4/5 Learning community meeting 3-4:30pm
Wednesday:
  • 2nd grade wacky Wednesday
  • K-5 FAIR testing training 1:15-3:00pm community classroom
  • 2/3 Learning community meeting 3-4:30pm
Coming Soon/Announcements:
  • This week I will start using a walkthrough form when I come through your classrooms. I will specifically be focusing on looking for clues that show me that the Kagan "PIES" are in place as you are doing cooperative learning. Please feel free to let me know if there is a time when you are using Kagan and would like me to drop by. You will also get a copy of the form from me after I visit.
  • Next week we start curriculum based measurements
  • 9/30 kindergarten trip to Greathouse butterfly farm
  • 10/1 elementary art club meets after school
  • 10/2 k-5 Progress reports go home 
  • October is conference month for elementary teachers. By the end of this month you should have documented parent conferences with all of your families.

Week of September 14-18

Hello Elementary Division!

I hope that your weekend was great and full of fun.

Here is what our week looks like:

Monday:
  • 3:00pm Interior design students interview K-1, 2-3, 4-5 learning community reps-one teacher per learning community needs to be there. Please talk to your team leader or me if you are interested in helping out.
Tuesday:
  • Picture day-please refer the the schedule sent out last week from Brittany.
  • 3:00pm Elementary Lead Team meeting (Amanda, Angie, Kelly, Cary, Ashlea, Ashley, Brynn, Ritzy, Marisa, and Amy) This is an open meeting and all teachers are welcome to attend. Here is the agenda:

Meeting with Fran to look at portables for construction moves.
  • 5:30pm SAC meeting  we are still looking for a new elementary rep-please let me know if you are interested.
Wednesday:
  • 1st grade wacky Wednesday
  • 1-3pm professional development led by Ritzy-effective parent communication with minority parents. We will also go over the 2009-10 meeting schedule at this meeting.
  • Kagan training 3-4:30pm
Friday:
  • Emergency sub plans are due today-please make sure that you have emailed Ellen and I their location in your room.

9/7-9/13


It is great to be a Florida Gator and even better to be a Colorado State Ram (or so I think). The Gators won and Colorado State beat Colorado in Colorado's stadium for the first time in 23 years. The last time CSU won the match up as an away game was on the same date(9/6) in 1986-wow!

Needless to say I love my Rams. 

I hope that all of you enjoyed the long weekend and took some time to do something fun.

Here is what our week looks like:

Monday:
  • Off for Labor day
Tuesday:
  • FAIR testing begins K-12
  • PKYPTO meet and greet meeting 5:30pm Community Classroom.
Wednesday:
  • 4th grade Wacky Wednesday
  • Kagan 3-4:30pm. I am working on a meeting schedule based on feedback from lead team and I will send it to you shortly with the entire year's meeting schedule.
Thursday:
  • 5:30-7:30pm elementary open house-please send out reminders and have parents come to the PAC at 5:30pm not classrooms. Teachers you also need to be at the PAC by 5:25pm.
  • Open house schedule: 5:30-6:10 PAC/6:15-6:45 rotation one/6:50-7:20 rotation two
  • 7:30pm 5th grade Patrol meeting 
Friday:
  • I will be at Camp Kulaqua with the 12th grade.
Coming Soon/announcements:
  • 9/15 SAC (school advisory council)meeting
  • 9/18 K-5 SST (student success team) meetings
  • Please send home picture day flyers. We are able to keep our dates.
  • Emergency sub plans-please email Ellen and I the location of your emergency sub plans. These should be a week's worth of plans.
  • Remember to keep your doors locked and shut at all times.
  • Please remember to document your use of Kagan structures and to bring your logs with you to Kagan training this week.
  • For safety please remember to send students in pairs to use the restroom or to anywhere else that they may need to go (library, nurse etc.)
